Getting Started With Communication Hub

Creating & Managing Communication Hub Audiences

Build and manage targeted recipient groups with flexible rules and conditions to ensure your messages reach the right people while maintaining efficient communication organization.

Overview

The Communication Hub's Audience feature helps you organize who gets your messages. You can create groups of recipients (like partners or advertisers) and set rules for who should be included.

For example, you might want to send a message to all active partners who logged in recently, or just new advertisers from the last month. You can save these groups to use them again later, and the system will keep track of your most-used audiences.

Key Terms Take a look at Communication Hub related terms below, before reading this article ➔ Audience Group: Main recipient category (Network/Partner/Advertiser).
➔ Audience Rule: Specific criteria for filtering recipients.
➔ Rule Logic: How multiple rules work together (AND/OR).
➔ Top Audiences: Most frequently used audiences.
➔ Potential Recipients: Users matching audience criteria.

Building Audiences

When creating a message, you also need to define your audience:

The audience list determines who will receive your email, based on the conditions you set. You can create a new audience or use an existing one. To build a new audience, click Add Audience Group and choose from the following options: Network Partner Advertiser After selecting your audience group, set up an Audience Rule to include or exclude recipients based on specific conditions. For example: All Created (within a specified time interval) From the following list (select one or more users to include or exclude) Has logged in between (specific time interval) Having any of the following roles (role-based filtering)

Rule Logic

Within Groups: AND operator

When multiple rules are added to one group, the rules will have an AND operator, meaning that the recipients added to the list will need to match every rule within the group.

The current recipient list is displayed in the right panel. You can use this to search and verify that the correct people are set to receive the message based on the rules you've configured.

  • Recipients must match all conditions
  • Example: Created > 30 days AND Has logged in AND Has specific role
Between Groups: OR operator

If multiple groups are added, each group has an OR operator, meaning that the recipients added to the list will include all emails that match any of the groups:

  • Recipients match any group's conditions
  • Example: (Network Team Group) OR (Partner Group)
  • Example: (Partner Group with certain conditions) OR (Partner Group with certain conditions)

Managing Audiences

Top Audiences Section

The Top Audiences section displays the three most frequently utilized audiences over the past 100 days.

This section allows you to create New Audiences and access the Manage Audiences page by clicking the "See All" button, which redirects you to the comprehensive Manage Audiences page.

Available Actions

The Top Audiences section has these options in the Table Actions menu:

  • Send a General Message: Start creating a message with your chosen audience rules already set up
  • Send an Offer Details Message: Create an Offer message with your chosen audience rules
  • Preview Current Recipients: See who's in this audience right now
  • Edit the Audience: Change the rules for this audience
  • Export as CSV: Download your recipient list as a spreadsheet
  • Delete: Remove this audience from your list

Audience Details Page

  • To learn more about a certain Audience, simply click on the Audience Name.
  • This action will direct you to the Audience Details page, which provides a comprehensive overview of the selected Audience.

On this page, you'll find General Information (such as ID, Date Created, Date Last Modified), the Audience Groups and their corresponding rules, and a list of Recipients Potentially in this Audience.

The term "Recipients Potentially in Your Audience" signifies that while these recipients belong to the Audience based on the defined rules, some factors may affect their inclusion:

1. Recipients may have adjusted their preferences in the Notifications settings under Communication Hub Email (from Network), potentially opting out of certain message types.

2. Recipients may not qualify for specific Offers, which could exclude them from particular communications.

3. Users have the ability to manually exclude potential audience recipients by unchecking the box next to their email address in the right pane.

These factors can result in some potential recipients not receiving certain communications despite being part of the defined Audience.

Manage Audiences

Clicking the See All button at the top right corner of the Communication Dashboard's Top Audiences section will redirect you to the Manage Audiences page. This page offers a comprehensive view of all your Audiences, complete with their Names, Audience Group(s), Rules, Date Created, and other pertinent information.‍

Similar to the Top Audiences section, the Manage Audiences page features a Table Actions menu with the following options - [Click Here]

Common Scenarios

Example 1: Active Partners Group: Partners Rules: Status: Active Logged in: Last 30 days (active Partners) Has traffic: Choose specific Offers You can also use Reporting data to track their KPIs and define the group this way. Example 2: New Advertisers Group: Advertisers Rules: Created: Choose any period but not the last 30 days (so not new Advertisers) Status: Active Labels: Content (Any of these labels - condition)

Tips for Success

To maximize the effectiveness of your Communication Hub audiences, implement these proven practices consistently. Check your audiences regularly to ensure contact information remains current and accurate as your network evolves.

Create descriptive, meaningful audience names that clearly indicate their purpose and composition for easy identification. Always define appropriate audience groups before crafting your message to ensure targeted delivery to the right recipients.

Test each communication with a small group first, such as your own email address or team members, to verify proper formatting and content display.

Finally, track performance metrics for different messages to identify which communications generate the best engagement, allowing you to refine your approach based on actual results.
