Traffic Controls

Traffic Controls are a powerful way to filter traffic based on variables.

Overview

Traffic Controls provide advanced filtering to allow or deny access to an Offer based on received variables, acting as a whitelist or blacklist for clicks.

How It Works:
  • Similar to Postback Controls (which filter conversions), but applies to clicks.
  • Can be configured for specific time windows and applied to:
    • All or selected Offers
    • All or selected Advertisers
    • All of selected Partners
Heads Up! This feature must be activated by a network admin.
To Enable Traffic Controls Access:
Navigate to Control Center -> Roles Select the Role to modify and click Edit Enable either Full Access or Read-Only Access Click Save

Use Case Examples

Example 1: Routing Traffic Based on OS Version
  • Offer A (owned by eCommerce Advertiser 1) only accepts users with newer OS versions.
  • Offer B (owned by eCommerce Advertiser 2) accepts all OS versions.
  • You can configure Traffic Control to:
    • Allow users with newer OS versions for Offer A.
    • Redirect users with older OS versions to Offer B (using Fail Traffic).
Example 2: Blocking Problematic Traffic Sources
  • An Advertiser prohibits traffic from certain low-quality sources.
  • You configure Traffic Control to:
    • Block clicks from specific sources or device characteristics.
    • Automatically deny Offer access to traffic from blacklisted sources.

How to Set Up Traffic Controls

1 Create a New Traffic Control Navigate to Offers -> Traffic Controls Click Add Traffic Control 2 Configure General Settings Set Traffic Control Status → Active/Inactive. Define Time Window (Optional) → Choose Effective Between dates. Select Scope: Apply to all Offers/Advertisers OR Choose specific Offers/Advertisers. Apply to all Partners OR Choose specific Partners. Heads up: If you select "Apply to All", review settings carefully to avoid blocking too much traffic. 3 Configure Traffic Control Rules Control Type: Whitelist → Only allow traffic from specified sources. Blacklist → Block traffic from specified sources. Action for Blocked Clicks: Block Clicks → Users see a dead page. Send to Fail Traffic → Redirects users to another Offer. Select Variables to Filter Traffic By: Country ISP Sub1 - Sub5 Referrer Source ID Tracking Domain Choose a Comparison Method (How the Approval/Rejection Logic Analyzes the Variables): Equals Contains Does not contain Begins with Character limits apply per method—ensure values fit within system constraints. Enter the Value(s) to Filter By: Input values one per line. Case-insensitive filtering: "Canada", "CANADA", and "canada" are treated the same. Click Save. After saving, you’ll see a summary list showing the status and last modification date of each Traffic Control

Can multiple Traffic Controls apply to a single click? Yes, multiple Traffic Controls can affect the same click. How do multiple Traffic Controls work together? A click must meet all conditions of every applied Traffic Control. If a whitelist and blacklist exist, the click must be: Whitelisted Not blacklisted If it fails one or the other, the click is blocked or redirected (based on settings). If multiple Traffic Controls apply, in what order are they checked? Traffic Controls are checked in random order. No priority logic is applied.
