Track suspicious activity, investigate transaction IDs, and monitor campaign performance with Everflow Investigator's detailed analytics and fraud detection tools.

Overview

As a performance marketer (or not...), you often need to dig deeper into your data to uncover valuable insights, troubleshoot problems, or identify suspicious activity.

Everflow Investigator is designed to do just that.

This tool enables you to conduct targeted Investigations based on specific data points, giving you the information you need to make informed decisions and optimize your campaigns.

Accessing Everflow Investigator

Open Everflow Investigator to start a new investigation or view previous ones.

Log in to your Everflow account. Navigate to Investigator at the bottom of the main menu Here, you'll see a list of your previous Investigations or you can create new ones.

Setting Up A New Investigation

Configure the parameters for your investigation, including date range, target, and suspects.

Click on the Investigation button. Select the desired Date Range for your Investigation. Choose a Target for your Investigation, which can be any of the following data points: Adv1-5 Order ID Referrer Source ID Sub1-5 Transaction ID User IP {sub1>SHA1} - This option un-hashes the value from sub1 using SHA1 {source_id>SHA1} - This option un-hashes the value from sub1 using SHA1 Enter the value(s) you want to investigate under Suspects You can search for multiple values by adding one per line. (Optional) Narrow down your Investigation by filtering for specific Offers and/or Partners. Click Run Investigation to generate your report.

Interpreting The Results

Analyze the investigation results to identify issues, assess performance, and detect suspicious activity.

After running your Investigation, Everflow Investigator will display the results based on your specified criteria. If there are many results, you may need to download a CSV file to view the full report.

The report will provide you with detailed information about the performance, behavior, or other relevant data points related to your chosen target(s). Use this information to:

  • Troubleshoot issues
  • Analyze the performance of specific users, clicks, or other data points
  • Identify potential fraud or suspicious activity

A Real-Life Example

Scenario

Imagine you're running a campaign for a mobile app and you notice a sudden influx of traffic from a new geographic region. You want to investigate the performance and legitimacy of this traffic to ensure fraudsters aren't targeting your campaign.

Using Everflow Investigator

Here's how you could use Everflow Investigator to analyze the suspicious traffic:

Set up the Investigation: Select a Date Range covering the period of the suspicious traffic increase Choose "User IP" as the target Enter the list of User IPs from the new geographic region Filter for the relevant Offer Analyze the results: Examine the click-to-install ratio for each User IP to identify any abnormally low conversion rates that may indicate click fraud Check for duplicate or similar User IPs that could suggest fraudulent activity like emulators or bots Analyze the post-install events and in-app behavior associated with these User IPs to determine if they align with genuine user engagement Take action: If you identify User IPs with suspiciously low conversion rates or no post-install activity, consider blocking them to prevent further fraudulent clicks and installs If the majority of the investigated User IPs exhibit red flags, you may need to reassess your traffic sources and partnership with the affiliate or ad network driving this traffic If the User IPs demonstrate strong performance and genuine engagement, you can allocate more budget to this new geographic region to scale your campaign's success

Best Practices

Make the Everflow Investigator part of your regular routine to spot both potential problems and new opportunities in your campaigns.

You'll get the most useful results by being specific about what you're looking for in both targets and suspects. When you're working with lots of data, download the CSV file so you can analyze everything more thoroughly.

For the best understanding of how your campaigns are performing, combine what you learn from the Investigator with information from your other reporting tools.
